Meet the Owners

Panhandle Greenhouses was founded by James and Rhonda Cathey, a couple whose shared love for plants grew into a lifelong calling. James began working in a greenhouse at just thirteen years old in 1976, and he quickly discovered that this was not just a job. It was a passion. As he often says, in this business you need to truly love what you do.

In 1989, James married Rhonda. Her background was in photography, but she stepped into the world of plants with curiosity and a natural ability to learn. After they were married, she began helping James manage a seasonal retail business he operated on the side with locations in four different towns. She soon fell in love with the work just as deeply as James.

Moving Forward

Today, their children Aaryn and Garrett are stepping in to carry the legacy forward. They bring fresh energy, new ideas, and the same dedication to quality and community that their parents built the business on. With the next generation involved, Panhandle Greenhouses continues to grow while staying true to its roots.

Together, the Cathey family remains committed to providing healthy plants, trusted guidance, and a welcoming place for gardeners across the Texas Panhandle.
